D ARADA project
Began in 2013 by young entrepreneurs Alejandro Santos and Domingo Rosales. They are united by a coffee-growing LEGACY, spanning more than five generations of family involvement in coffee production in Arada, Honduras. They also share a passion for gastronomy in New York City, where they have over 14 years of experience, leading to the creation of D'ARADA INC.
The name D Arada comes from a coffee-producing municipality in the Santa Bárbara department of Honduras; the name is ARADA. This is where young Domingo Rosales hails from, representing the fifth generation of a coffee-producing family.
Visiting the farms
In 2014, both young men visited coffee farms for the first time in Honduras, specifically choosing the Palmo community in Arada as their coffee-growing area. On various occasions afterward, they visited other coffee-growing regions, conducting coffee tasting sessions.
Throughout this decade, both young men gifted coffee from Honduras to their friends, family, and close acquaintances in New York City and other cities across the United States. They received positive feedback on the coffee, which helped build their confidence to open a coffee roastery in New York City.
They established direct trade with two coffee farms:
Finca Montes de Agua, which produces coffee under the name Eclectico (located in Santa Barbara), and Finca Santamaria, which produces coffee under the name Santamaria (located in Lempira). Additionally, they formed an alliance with Beneficio Rosales (located in Arada, Santa Barbara).
